hii the hypothalamus stimulates the pituitary gland which makes FSH and LH. this contributes the the menstruation process because it's when FSH and LH are at their peak that ovulation occurs. After ovulation occurs, the Corpus Luteum sends out progesterone. The estrogen that is produced by FSH and the progesterone that is produced by LH are what trigger the lining to then thicken.
