Muddiest Point

Hey guys! so the thing I am most confused with is why blood type O can donate blood to any blood type, but cannot receive blood from any blood type, but blood type O. Thanks!

  1. So basically every different type of blood has different antibodies and antigens and they are not aloud to "mix". The blood type O has both A and B antibodies, but NO antigens. Now because A,B, and AB blood have either A,B, or AB antigens then type O blood cannot receive blood from any of these types because the antigens and antibodies will "mix". Now because type O blood has no Antigens, they can donate to any of the blood types because they wont "mix" with the other types of antibodies. The proper term for the mixing of the antigens and antibodies is Agglutination.
