Muddiest Points!

Hi guys!
I always get confused with xylem and phloem. I know their functions, but I get confused which function goes with which. Is there any good way to remember them?
Also, what is the function of a receptacle?
Thanks! :D

  1. the receptacle is the expanded part of the stem that bears the organs of a flower. I don't really have a good way of remembering which function goes with which structure, but I just remember it because it is usually written/said xylem, then phloem. And I always remember that one carries water up, so I just put that function with the structure given first which is 99% of the time xylem. Then I know by process of elimination the functions of the phloem. I hope this helps!

  2. The xylem transports water and the phloem transports the food( which is mainly sugar(which is many glucose))
