Hey guys. This is kind of like what everyone else is saying, but i don't really understand the positive/negative feedback. i also don't understand what the hypothalamus gland is and what it does. Thanks:)
Hey Kasia, the hypothalamus is what controls the secretions of the pituitary gland. It's influenced by the levels of hormones and other substances in the blood and by sensory information collected by other parts of the nervous system. Hope I could help!
Just some extra information... The hypothalamus is attached to posterior pituitary and is also the link between the nervous system and the endocrine system. Antidiuretic hormone (stimulates the kidney to absorb water) and oxytocin (stimulates contractions during childbirth) are made in the cell bodies of hypothalamus. The hypothalamus also has indirect control of the anterior pituitary. It produces releasing hormones that controls the secretion of each anterior pituitary hormone.
