Muddiest Point

Hi guys, I'm still a little confused on the process when ADP turns into ATP and when the energy is used.

  1. Okay, so when a phosphate group is added to ADP, ATP is formed. When energy is released from the bond, ATP loses a phosphate group and becomes ADP. Also remember that energy is stored in the chemical bonds that connect two phosphate.

    Hope this helped!

  2. That's good Olivia.. just to add...

Remember... CELLULAR RESPIRATION is the process that forms ATP in the MITOCHONDRIA.

When cells need to use energy (which they use for MANY reactions) they break off the 3rd phosphate group from ATP. This releases energy which is available to the cell.
