Haploid cells are cells that contain only one set of chromosomes, which means they have one set of genes. For example, the complete number of chromosomes for humans is 46. The haploid is 23. And the complete number of chromosomes corresponds to the diploid version. Haploid is 23, Diploid is 46. Sex Cells are haploid, so they have one copy of each chromosome. This is because during sexual reproduction, haploid cells from the male and female come together to make a diploid organism, meaning that the organism has two sets of chromosomes (46).
