Muddiest Point!

Hello everyone! A couple of terms I do not know when I read over when I looked at our objectives sheet are Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic, and Precambrian (All of those words are under #8 on the objectives sheet). I didn't quite recognize them and I need help understanding what they are.
Thanks!

  1. These are the eras of the geological time scale. They basically divide the whole time Earth has been around into eras based on life present in that time frame. For example, right now we are in the Cenozoic era. There is a graph of this on UP 33 that might help too. Hope this helps!

  3. Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic and Precambrian are all parts of the geological time scale. Cenozoic, Mesozoic, and Paleozoic are all eras on the time scale and Precambrian Time covers about 90% of Earth's history. So it's not an eon, but much larger. Pages 542-543 in the book will also help!!
