Basically they wanted to simulate the conditions of primitive earth. They had many gasesd such as nitrogen in the glass bottle thing. They had no oxygen. They used electriclity to simulate lighting bolts. and a bunsen burner to simulate the suns heat. they created the conditions to create life. hope this helps
