Muddiest Point!

Hello Everyone,

My muddiest point is defining convergent evolution and genetic drift.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone could explain this to me!

Thanks,

  1. Convergent evolution is the process when unrelated organisms produce similar structures and characteristics because of adapting to similar environments. Natural selection is involved because the different organisms live in similar environments which require structures that perform similar functions. The structures perform similar functions which is why they look similar.
For genetic drift, I found this website (http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evosite/evo101/IIIDGeneticdrift.shtml) helpful. There are other things on evolution so you could check it out!
    Hope I helped! :)

  2. From what I understand Covergent Evolution is when two species evolve similiar structures because of natural selection. The structure helped both of them stay alive so it stayed in both species.
